silver plated engraved vs stainless steel engraved cake server set?
Hi, for our wedding we’d like to use a cake server set (server and Cake Knife) engraved with our names and date of wedding
so which is the best option, silver plated or stainless steel and what is the best option and does one fade or discolour eventually / high maintenance?
would like this to become a family heirloom as later on if we have kids we can engrave their date of birth etc at christening in the knife as well
any thoughts?
Silver is classier but more expensive and you have to polish it. Stainless steel still looks good and gets the job done. I do not think it is tacky to pass down stainless steel. It’s the sentiment behind it that counts.
