Will I get a ticket if I cross the white line and yellow turns red?
I saw green turn yellow at a distance and breaked hard. But I figured that if I continued to break, I will be sitting at the middle of the intersection, so I decided to proceed. But after I crossed the threshold line, I saw the yellow light turn red. Will I get a ticket?
Actually no one pulled me over. So I did not get ticketed by the cops. I was more worried about the signal cameras.
Exactly this happened to me, I ‘ran’ the orange light (yes the orange, that’s what my ticket said) and the cop pulled me over, I also had a driving instructor in the car with me who fully supported my decision to go through the intersection. Anyways, instructor said if you’re unsure but are going through the intersection anyway, look up and if you still see the light orange then you’re good, but if it turns red while you can look up and see it, then you’ve run a red light. I disputed the ticket and a year later at the court date the officer showed up and withdrew the charge due to the fact that she ‘had no evidence’. I felt so smug. Never doubted my decision on going through an intersection since.
